Ana Maria's father, Angel Ortega, owned the farm since its inception in 1950, and Ana Maria was born on the farm. She took over the farm at the age of 17 when her parents passed away, and has been managing ever since. She loves nature and flowers. In the city of Huehuetenango, Ana Maria's house is a beautiful garden complete with peacocks.
