How We Source Our Coffee
While we love working directly with individual producers, not every coffee can come from a single, named farm. In many regions, smallholder farmers pool their harvests, rely on cooperatives, or depend on community-led processing to access the specialty market. In these cases, a direct relationship with every individual isn’t always possible—and sometimes, it isn’t even the most equitable model for that community.
But our standards don’t shift. We only work with partners who prioritize farmer income, stable pricing, and transparent processing. And regardless of the sourcing model, we remain committed to revenue sharing and sending more value back to the people who grew the coffee. Whether it’s one producer or an entire community, growers are centered in how we buy, pay, and tell the story. And no matter what, we make sure they see an additional $1/lb after the coffee is roasted.
When we say “revenue share,” we mean that a portion of every sale goes directly back to the growers—not as a one-time premium or a charity model, but as an ongoing redistribution of the value their labor creates. Coffee producers carry the highest risk and do the most essential work, yet historically receive the smallest cut of the final price. Revenue sharing matters because it shifts that imbalance. It ensures growers benefit not just at the moment of purchase, but across the life of the coffee—every bag, every order, every customer who chooses this lot. It’s one small way we move toward a supply chain where the people who grow coffee can actually thrive, not just survive.
