Kiko Ribeiro

Kiko is a proud member of the Cocarive Cooperative, a leader in the movement empowering farmers to grow high-quality, sustainably grown, single-origin coffees in Brazil.

His goal is to provide carbon offset in the southern part of the province of Minas Gerais, pushing back against the wave of tropical deforestation.

Kiko uses mules instead of machinery, which is gentler on his land. By producing high-quality microlots that grow some of the best coffee in the world, he also protects the 40 hectares of Mata Atlantica on his land from deforestation. Today, he is working on converting his farm to 100% solar power to further decrease his carbon footprint.

Onda is proud to be the first stateside retailer to partner with Kiko and the Cocarive Cooperative. We continue their sustainability efforts by offering their best coffee in partially biodegradable coffee bags.

The bag art for all our Brazilian coffees showcases football (aka soccer) as a cornerstone of Brazilian culture and identity. The toucan (perched on the goal) brings life to the Amazon rainforest by spreading seeds and maintaining the diversity of plant life.
